The Public Education Foundation has a range of scholarships to help young people at public schools reach their potential.
A wide range of scholarships are available, including for refugees, social justice and people with disabilities. Scholarship recipients receive both financial and academic support.
- Financial support: recipients receive funds to be used for educational goals such as tutoring, school supplies, laptops, school excursions and incidental fees. The amount depends of the scholarship. They may be multi-year or single year scholarships.
- Academic Support: For school scholarships, the Foundation works with teachers and principals to ensure ongoing support for the scholarship recipients.
- Awards ceremony: scholarship recipients receive a formal acknowledgement of their achievement at the annual Public Education Awards Ceremony in Sydney.
“I’m Baraa Omar from Holroyd High School … I came from Syria due to war in 2013. The Friends of Zainab scholarship has offered me the opportunity to enhance my learning in an easier way. Due to financial struggles, this scholarship has had a very positive affect on me. Now I’m able to use my own laptop and finish my assessments without fighting over a shared laptop between my siblings. This scholarship is helping me to achieve what I’ve always dreamed of. “
